由于没找到这道题的讨论链接，所以把它贴上来了哈。麻烦大家指点指点。是GWD上的题。

GWD上给的答案是E.可是我总觉的E后半句“other than what it is, recisely the opposite, a tool for communicating with a large, public audience”有点不完整。我觉得C更为合理。

我认为有两点：

1）时态问题，前面是一般过去时，后面表达转折，没有理由用现在完成时 has become,现在完成时在有明显的标志下才能使用

2）平行问题，a substitute for the telephoema tool for private conservation 与未划线部分的a tool for communicating with ...构成了平行关系，而C 中 a tool for private conservation that could...无法与后面构成平行结构

一点愚见哈
