GWD17-Q21:

Medicare, the United States government’s health insurance program for the elderly and disabled, covers the full cost of home health care, but not with other nonhospital services where 20 percent of the costs must be paid by beneficiaries.

答案是C.但偶怎么都想不通耶。偶选滴是E. 还请大牛们指点!

我觉得从对称上理解, C更合适，而E不具有对称的结构

covers the full cost of home health care, but not of other nonhospital services, for which beneficiaries must pay 20 percent of the costs.

同时E不能正确的表达题目想表达的意思,容易引起歧义

正确答案C所表述的意思是能cover home health care 的full cost,不能cover other non的full cost, 对于nonh service, 要支付20%,言外之意就是说,这个program 能cover 80%的 nonh service.

再看E

E. cover full of home health care, which is unlike other nonhospital services that make beneficiaries pay 20 percent of the costs 那么仅从这个从句理解, home health care不像nonhospital services 那样要求beneficiaries pay 20 percent of the costs.

那另外80%呢, E选项并不能表述出另外80%可以被cover的意思; 而且还很容易认为 "nonh service只需要花20%的钱(感觉像是这个服务打折扣了)" ,应该是只需人们掏20%, 另外80%被cover才对.

仔细看E,你会发现,E句子的角度有问题. 原题想要从围绕cover这个动作说, 而E前半部分说的是cover, 后半部分说的是pay, 意思表达已经混乱了, 根本没有可比性.

B can be confused. Making... 可以是整句话的结果状语从句，同样也可以修饰nonh service

这里我觉得but前要加逗号的目的,其实就是为了格开句尾分词making beneficiaries ,让它只能修饰but以后的部分. 如果but前没有逗号,整个句子从开头,到 making之前都是一个整体,这个making分词结构修饰整个整体句子所表达的情况,明显不对. making只是用来修饰后半句,即but以后的内容.

making是分词，主语由前面的句子主语medicare承担，篡改了原句意思。for which的which指代正确
