Finally got an invitation to interview when I almost lost hope. My status has not changed for more than one month. It seems that Darden is sending out results of round 2.

Anybody can share experience?

我第二轮申请，1月7日材料完整，2月1日就被ding了。

I applied for round 2. Just checked online application status and found that my status changed to "invited to have an alumni or phone interview".

For Darden, interview is very very important. You dont have to worry your GMAT or TOEFL since the interviewer will know nothing about you before your interview. But you need to know what you really like about Darden, how it fits your career goal. Tell them the names of Darden students you ever talked to (very helpful) . Darden is a small community, which puts a lot of weight on the team work and the community atmosphere. Just be yourself. Darden likes its students to be a member who can contribute to the "family" since this is a relatively small program. A common comparision b/w UMBS and Darden is that UMBS has a strong alumni base but every alumnus of Darden will die hard for Darden's students. Another suggestion -- be passionate and proactive to conduct the interview. Don't let him/her control the flow.

My status was updated yesterday, too, but is just WaitList.

I do not get interview invitation, so what does the only Waitlist mean? I think it may mean that I need to wait for an interview invitation. So, hopeless, right?

No, far from hopeless yet. 我记得darden的waitlist会给你分级别并且给你反馈信息.

你可以先写信给adcom, 强调你是如何fit这个学校, 你非常想知道他们对你的建议, 并且你希望通过面试能使他们更全面的了解你. 总之, 如果darden是你想去的学校, 你还有很多很多事可以做.

I would not worry too much about it. Usually applicants will initiate interviews with Darden, so If you have not done so, Darden will sometimes make a decision upon the info they have. I know a couple of people who were in WL all got in after interviews. Yes, I agree with what SmaileFF said - write to them and ask for an interview. You should be fine. Good luck!

I agree with Leehanb and SmileFM. Interview is definitely important for international students. By now i have not met anyone who was admitted by Darden without an interview.

At this moment of time, you had better do something to get the chance for interview. As far as I know, almost every year in early March, Darden admission director will go to China as a trip to interview with appliants. You should not miss this chance if you want to get admitted to Darden.

有Round 3 申请得到interview的嘛？我是Round 3还过了两天才交的。

刚看了这个帖子，跑去看我的status，第一句是“We have completed processing your application..."，差点儿晕倒，完了啥动静都没有！惨！再一看，说是送Admit com了。真有点儿是杯弓蛇影，草木皆兵了！

Hey:

I just heard that for some reason, the adcom staffs will not be able to show up in China this March (they will fly to Europe this March). All the interviews will be conducted by Darden alumni in China.

It will be better if you can contact Darden Adcom and arrange an alumni interview. Plus, I guess the best way to reach them is by phone instead of email, they probably get tons of emails everyday.

I saw many advices recommending to contact Adcom and ask for A interivew. I don't understand, could Darden's interview be asked for? or it is only on invitation basis? Is it Darden special in this, or some other reasons?

I am on waitlist too, and kind of confusing whether email and call can really help. Thank you!

I am waitlist too, clearly the call and email might not play much role there, and they told me be patient and give them time to review all new packages before replying you, therefore I am thinking whether I can meet them face to face, it might not work either,just wanna have a try.

I submitted my full pack on Feb 13 so as to catch its round 3. Got an interview with its Director of Student Affairs on March 12 at CEIBS. I'm feeling down these days because I was rejected by Kellogg yesterday. It hurts... Anybody would like to share with me what topics an Darden interview usually covers? Good luck to you all!

I was told that Darden's assistant director of admission would not come to China, and the interview will be conducted by alumni.

The interview questions are general: why MBA, why now, why Darden, how your friends describe you, leadership story etc.

Sorry, I submitted my pack on Jan 13, not February. The interview will be conducted in three ways: by alumni, telephone and someone from Darden, mostly depending on locations, l guess.

I asked them and was told they would not come to Asia .

Congratulations on your offer of Duke, so you might drop the interview opportunity with Darden
