By competing with rodents for seeds, black ants help control rodent populations that pose a public health risk.  However,
a very aggressive species of blank ant, the Loma ant, which has
recently invaded a certain region, has a venomous sting that is often
fatal to humans.  Therefore, the planned introduction into that region of ant flies, which prey on Loma ants, would benefit public health.

 

Which of the following, if true, most strengthens the argument?

 

A.    Ant flies do not attack black ants other than Loma ants.

  1. Loma ants are less effective than many bird species in competing with rodents for seeds.
  2. Certain other species of black ants are more effective than Loma ants in competing with rodents for seeds.
  3. The sting of Loma ants can also be fatal to rodents.
  4. The use of pesticides to control Loma ants could have harmful effects on the environment.

A和C之间徘徊。第一眼看是A,但想想C也对。

A就不说了。说说对C的理解

我认为C说的是这么回事：Loma争抢seeds的效果比不上其他black ants,又由于competing seeds决定了rodent population, 所以Loma在抑制rodent population上发挥的作用不重要。
于是把引入ant flies杀掉Loma，不会影响对于rodent population的控制效果。于是C也strenthen了原文。

我觉得A和C都在strengthen原文。

并且A和C必须同时成立。


请教大家。

我觉得A只是把原文which prey on Loma ants给重复了一下，并没有递进一部。因为原文并没有说ant flies 会杀掉其他的black ants

而C重复了原文的意思还递进了一下， 说明杀掉Loma ants对于抑制rodent population更没什么影响，加强了原文

有点晕了 难道说C是错在certain和比较上？ 一些其他品种比Loma要更有竞争力并没有否定掉Loma的竞争力？也许Loma还是有竞争力的，只是没有其中的一部分（可能很少）的品种的竞争力大？

这题的答案很显然是A。to achieve the intention of the argument that ant flie will benefit the public health, so ant flie is helpful in preying on only Loma ohter than any other black ants which are good to public health.

应该是A答案。会在Ａ和Ｃ之间犹豫。
但是Ｃ是不对的，原因是原文着眼点在引入一个东西可以抑制某个Ant并达到什么效果，这个和Ant里面种类区别没有关系。所以不合适。

我觉得问题在于C的一个词的表述 【effective】

【我认为C说的是这么回事：Loma争抢seeds的效果比不上其他black ants,又由于competing seeds决定了rodent population, 所以Loma在抑制rodent population上发挥的作用不重要。】

Loma争抢seeds的效果比不上其他black ants,
的确 效果不如其他的蚂蚁 但是它还是有效果
不管效果的强弱如何 它还是有效果的

因此C是无关的 甚至有一点点削弱
因为就算效果不佳 但不等同于无甚效果 你把它灭了 就是削弱了public health
如果用XDF的话来说 C就是比较错误

这两天做狒狒的时候看到好多tricky的选项 都是这么表述的 什么【effective】【most believe】吖的。。都是大骗子

A就是bible说的那种选项 eliminate 其他的gap
因为你在读的时候应该会想到 这个flies要杀这个毒蚂蚁 那杀不杀其他的蚂蚁呢？
【联想到忘了是不是OG得一个逻辑题 什么农药除草 也除掉了农作物的weaken题】
那么A正好消除了这个gap。。专灭毒蚂蚁的东东。。

最近在看H大神的逻辑受益匪浅，这道题应该这么做：
第一步：找结论，结论是“Therefore, the planned introduction into that region of ant flies, which prey on Loma ants, would benefit public health.”
第二部：分析推理类型，这道题是在论述方案，所以归类为“方案”
“方案”的特征是有目标，有计划，但是没有实施，等待你的评估。这道题评估的是：为什么引入ant flies会对公共健康有好处？

A：因为AF只攻击L蚂蚁，所以解决了问题，方案可行。说的是CQ1方案有效性。
B：与仓鼠无关
C：与其他蚂蚁无关
D：与仓鼠无关
E：与杀虫剂无关
除了A之外其他的选项都是在说别的，只有A再说方案，论证了方案的有效性！

我的关注点可能和大家有些不同，更多关注在often fatal和public health的关系上。
其实文章描述表明public health的影响因素有两个：一是rodent population, 一是Loma ant. 这两个因素对public health的影响程度不同，前者是pose a risk，后者直接就often fatal to human.
所以C选项其实很好排除，因为即使否定C选项：Loma蚂蚁在与老鼠们竞争种子食物方面比其他黑蚂蚁更加有效，我们也不能让Loma蚂蚁继续繁殖下去，因为它们比老鼠们对public health的威胁更大，直接就能置人于死地。所以不管Loma蚂蚁对老鼠的竞争作用有多么强，我们都必须引入ant flies控制Loma蚂蚁的数量，将这个public health的最大威胁解除掉，再去考虑rodents这个小问题。
