答：E。 表示“相似”（即 强调两者之间的相似性）的时候用 “as”不用“like”；表示“如：...”（即 举例子的时候），用“like”，不用“as”
这是习惯用法，没有什么诀窍，自己牢记哦！【推荐参考：prep语法破解 详解版】

答：虽然最初我也曾一度觉得“根本大法“ 多么多么厉害……
但随着时间的推移、做题量的增加，我却发现几乎没有几题是通过“动词优于形容词优于抽象名词”来判断的……
因为GMAT语法本身是考察你对句子意思、句子内各部分逻辑关系的理解能力；不是在考你语法知识点！
所以：如果你都记得“根本大法”了，那为什么没想起“简洁清晰”这一最最根本的原则呢？
“are endangered by ”明显更简洁，肯定优于“are in danger of ”；
再个，如果我没记错，“in danger of ”本身就不是习惯用法，“endangered by ”才是习惯用法；两者同时出现，必选后者！
（PS：我做了这么多题，也的确从没见过“in danger of ”做正确选项的……）

答：不是的。题目可能有打印错误，C项我估计应该是“what action would be necessary militarily .....”
我个人是通过两点来判断 D 优于 C 的：
1. C项的修饰混乱。necessary 修饰action，而 militarily 从语义上看，是想修饰action （但adv. 又不能修饰n.），从位置、语法结构上看 又其实是在修饰necessary；
故引起歧义，错！
2. “in oder to deal with ”优于“for dealing with ”；
“in oder to ”是习惯用法，一般为优选项；“for + 动名词形式”一般都错！两者同时出现，排除后者。
以上为个人一些浅薄的见解…… 仅代表个人观点！

Like和as都可以表示"就像"，但是like后面只能接名词，as后接句子。本题中两者相似的地方是“owning and living in a freestanding house on its own land is still a goal of sb.”是句子不是名词，所以like错

要小小地更正一下楼上同学说法。以免误导。
“Like”除了有和“AS”一样，表示“及其像,近乎相同”含义外，还有一个比喻的用法“相似”。另外Like强调名词比较，as强调动词比较。句意说，两代人的goal是一样的，最好用as。但是这只是一个Effictiveness的问题，不足以用它筛选答案。
重要的是：Like必须用作主语比较，根据modifier紧贴原则，like结构必须用在主语周围。
这里like置于句末，用来比较宾语，这种表达，标准英语里从未见过。

没看过LZM，没上过新东方。不知道MM所说的“根本大法”。
但是有一个原则，在gmat里很重要：简洁有效。
In danger of typanosomiasis已经足够,没必要再加contracting。OF结构本来就是让你用个名词，你非要在加个动词，再把它变成名词，累赘。

原句的意思说：军事上采取何种行动。
C的前半句表意十分含糊，并且改变了句义，军事上需要什么？需要服务，需要补给？
还是需要行动？
另外表示目的的话，to do结构，优于for doing。介词优先+名词，你何必把一个动词变成动名词，再置于for之后。想用动词，直接用语感上更加通顺不定式结构，就可以了。
