Ideal Applicants:
For MS program:
If you apply straight from the completion of an undergraduate program, I would recommend that you have a solid quantitative background. The program uses a lot of quantitative analysis tools, especially statistics and econometrics. Familiarity with certain computer language such as VB or software such as SAS is also helpful. The program is ideal for someone who wants to start a career as a risk analyst or data analyst in the insurance or risk consulting industry. The program is also ideal for someone who sets actuary as their professional goal and wants to pass one or two actuarial exams upon graduation.
For MBA program:
The recommendation is that you have a few years of full-time work experience prior your application. You see a functional role of managing risks or providing consultation on corporate risk management policy as your career goal. Good English communication skill is highly recommended, but the school has excellent ESL program to help you get ready for your degree.

Tuition and Fee:
The current tuition for Risk Management degrees is $880 per credit. General fee is $150 per semester. Insurance fee is $846 per semester. If you plan to live on-campus, the room and board expense is approximately $5,000 per semester.
Financial Aid:
The Zurich Chinese Scholars Fund provides full coverage of costs associated with three Chinese students attending the one-year MS program. This fund starts in 2008 and ends in 2010. Therefore, students interested in the Risk Management program are encouraged to apply as early as possible.
Each year, MS and MBA Risk Management programs also grant two merit-based graduate assistantships respectively. These assistantships give full-tuition coverage and a monthly stipend.
The annual AXA 911 Scholarship grants four risk management students with awards from $7,000 to $10,000.

OK, here is the answer:
You can email your transcripts to Gerri Wojno at the Graduate Admissions office for review only. You will get a conditional admission based on copies. But you still need to mail you original transcripts once you graduate and receive that from your school in order to transfer the conditional admission to admission. All transcripts will eventually go to Gerri Wojno, so please email to her instead of email to Rebekah or Jennifer. Gerri's email address is: wojnog@stjohns.edu.

Many applicants inquire about Zurich Scholarship and GA. The scholarship and GA offers are separate from admissions decision and they will be reviewed and assessed by Rebekah.
The Zurich Scholarship is for Chinese students only, but the GA, you will compete with students from other countries as well.

我今天已经收到了MSA的AD，一封E-mail,三封附件，没有提奖学金的事儿，只说申assistant的话还需进一步联系和等待，请问这是说我奖学金没戏了吗？
Applications are reviewed once the whole package is received and admissions decision will be given 3-4 weeks after applicaion submitted. So the time an applicant receive an admissions decision is determined by the date he/she submits his/her entire application. RM first round of admissions decision starts sending out now.

Yes, you can apply without I-20. The ISSSO send you I20 application package to your achknoledgement so that you know what you should prepare if you get admitted.
1. Affidivat: fill out the form and ask your parents sign the affidivat in front of a notary officer.
2. Bank statement: request it from the bank.
3. Proof of income: if your parents are your sponsor, they should get the proof from the Human Resources/Accounting/Finance/Treasury department of their company.
Submit your application first. If you can get a tentative transcript from your school for the last semester, do so. If not, submit the transcrpit up to your latest semester for review and when you get the transcript for your last semester, complete your application with that.
Please follow-up on a regular basis, for example, once a week, with Geraldine, on your scholarship and admissions status.

About TOEFL: with IBT 100 or better, you can be exempt from Language courses; scores less than that have to take the English Proficiency Test.
If you had a degree from an institution in US, you can be exempt from TOEFL score; otherwise, you have to take TOEFL again and let the test center send the original copy to the school.
I think what she means is that you should send her the Chinese version AND translated English version. You may use a translation company to do that for you or you can translate the Chinese transcripts into English by yourself. But either way, you should have your school seal on the translated transcripts.
Hope this clarifies your question.
As far as I know, the school is bind by the 4.15 rules for acceptance offer of admission and financial aid. But in case of St. John's school policy, my personal suggestion is that you write to Gerri for an extension of the decision period.
Here is the details of the 4.15 rule "That the currently prevailing procedures dealing with the offering and acceptance of financial aid are intended to cover graduate admissions as well as offers of financial aid. To protect candidates against the need to make premature decisions, graduate programs should allow applicants until April 15 to make final decisions. "

1. As soon as you have two offers, decide which is the better one for you and politely refuse the other.
2. Repeat this comparison and decision as you receive each new offer.

1. Online application is highly recommended although it is not required.
2. Fill out F1 visa or Student visa.
3. If you submit your application online, you can make it before March 1.
4. If you are offered a scholarship, you may still need proof of funding for partial of your living expense to get your I20. But this is not the issue now.

Yes, admission is possible. But if you want to compete for scholarship, I would recommend you to retake your GMAT (try to score over 680) and TOEFL (try to score over 100) and wirte an impressive essay stating clearly about your goal.

I just got the following notice from Rebekah. Please be aware of this schedule:
1. Because of high application volume and because School of RM wants to give applicants with high profile equal assessment for scholarship opportunities, the scholarship assessment will start from now and the designation of scholarship will be from the end of March till the beginning of April. Zurich scholarship will be assessed and interviewed in the first week of April. Again, it is holistic assessment, so applicants will be evaluated based on their TOEFL, GMAT, GPA, Work Experience, etc. GA positions will be designated in the first week of April also. Both Zurich and GA are merit-based scholarships.
2. Students with concerns about 7th semester transcript please notice that you may email Rebekah to explain your situation and reason why you may not obtain the transcript now so that you will still be reviewed for scholarships.
3. Applicants with high profile will be simultaneously evaluated for other merit-based scholarships such as STARR, Thompson, etc. whose grants range from $1,000 to $7,000 at the same time when they are being assessed for Zurich and GA. If an applicant is awarded more than one scholarship, he/she will only receive the one with higher grants. That means, awards are not cumulative and any remaining awards will go to the next qualified applicants.

No, I definitely didn't mean that you won't get admitted. If your whole application package has just been finished, it is highly possible that a decision is not made yet. As I said in my previous response, the evaluation for scholarships is postponed till April. But please followup with either Jennifer or Rebekah about your scholarship status.
