Noting that the Federal Reserve had raised a key short-term interest rate again last month, analysts said that they expected orders for durable goods to decline soon because rising interest rates makes it more expensive to buy them on credit
A. rising interest rates makes it more expensive to buy them on credit
B. rising interest rates make buying on credit more expensive
C. a rise in interest rates make it more expensive to buy on credit
D. a rise in interest rates make buying on credit more expensive
E. a rise in interest rates makes it more expensive for them to be bought on credit
ANS: B
請問不選CDE是因為a rise in ...
make it more...to V和make Ving more...
2.就算a rise in interest rates说的过去,那么C和D起码也应该用makes 而不是make,因为主语是a rise,
3. A 和E 选项最大的问题在于后面的it 和them,自己多读几遍就觉得相当别扭了,makes it more expensive to buy them,这里的them有指代不清的嫌疑,it则无指代,
OG11-90: While the long descriptive construction between the subject and verb may make it difficult to see this relationship, notice that the modifying phrase is set off with commas.
rising/raising...

2、buy on credit
make it more expensive to buy them..
B.correct.
C.make-->makes; make it more expensive to buy them..
D.make-->makes
E.for them to be bought on credit 里面的them指代不明(没有buy来规范,不一定指goods)。
Noting that…analysts said that
they expected…because
rising interest rates make
Buy on credit 分期付款
C. make-->makes
D.
make-->makes
E. for them to be bought on credit 里面那MingLiU","serif"; mso-ascii-font-family: Tahoma; mso-hansi-font-family: Tahoma; mso-bidi-font-family: Tahoma;">个 them 指代不明.

it 代指high-definition digital video cameras to capture material with a degree of fidelity nearly comparable to that of 35-millimeter film and to project it digitally in theaters with no resulting loss of image quality.
Recent breakthroughs in technology have made
high-definition digital video cameras to capture material with a degree of fidelity nearly comparable to that of 35-millimeter film and to project it digitally in theaters with no resulting loss of image quality possible.
rising/raising...

3、E中 it more expensive for them to be bought on credit中it是形式主语的用法。形式主语结构的构成是 it is adj. for sb. to do sth.,其中sb.

如果题目没给again,选项中的a rise in 和rising interests 表达的主语不同。
a rise--rise使buying on credit more expensive
rising interests--interests使buying on credit more expensive
Rising i r和a rise in i r是两个不同的意思
