标题: 一道assumption的难题

For the first time in this century, the most recent national census shows that towns with populations under 10,000 are growing more rapidly than cities of more than 1 million. This confirms that people prefer human scale environments to rich, high-density environments.

The above argument assumes that

(A) the populations of large cities are devclining.

(B) the environmental quality of cities is declining.

(C) financial oppotunities are the primary reason people live in large cities.

(D) people find more financial oppotunities in large cities than in small towns.

(E) there are more rich people today than ever before.

实在是想不明白为什么选择D。请各位帮忙。^^

题目是,通过最近的统计发现人口在10,000以下的城市人口增长速度高于人口在一百万以上的城市,因此推论人们现在更喜欢人口密度低的环境,而不是财富和高密度的环境。

A 大城市的人口在下降,明显,这个是可能的conclusion,而不是assumption

B 环境质量在下降,题目没有讨论环境的变化

C 赚钱机会是人们在大城市生活的主要原因,这个是干扰选项,看起来似乎是正确的,但是没有提到小城市,应该是大城市比小城市更容易赚钱(题目中提到大城市->财富/高密度人口环境,小城市->低密度环境,因此越来越多的人选择小城市)

D 相对于小城市人们能在大城市有更多的赚钱机会,正确

E 无关选项
