这两个选项主要区别是processes的定于从句，A选项：the processes that produce and make it understandable 是说这个processes产生了语言并使语言可以被理解。C选项 the processes by which it is produced and understood ，是说语言被这个processes产生和理解，语言只能被人理解，不能被processes理解，逻辑不合理。所以选A。其他三个选项都可以通过主谓一致排除。

that在名词后面修饰名词的部分作定语，相当于形容词。

mm注意区分一下定语从句和宾语从句。

You give me an apple that is big. 你给我个大苹果

You told me that the apple is big. 你告诉我说这苹果是大的

考场上遇到这个题我必定会选C，看完大牛们的讨论，觉得答案应该是A

很多人说that produce后缺一个it，那把it加上变成that produce it and make it understandable，读起来别扭啊。。。因为这个排除A有点牵强。

还有人说by在这里可以理解为“through”，但这样理解有问题，因为如果by的意思理解成“through”那by应该作方式状语，意思是“通过…方式、以…角度”，例如：
? You can order tickets by telephone. 你可以用电话订票。
? They decided to raise the money by subscription. 他们决定采取募捐的办法来筹集这笔款项。
也就是说，by后面的名词应该是前面动作的一种方式方法。回到原题it is produced and understood by processes，这里如果by作方式状语，必须要说清楚是by what processes？如果没有，就会被理解为“通过许多过程的方式”，读者只知道通过processes，但根本不知道通过什么processes，所以不合理。

还有，大家试着翻译一下这个句子，看看processes这个词是不是迫切需要一个定语，这样才能让读者明白到底是什么processes如此值得一提。如果processes没有定语，谁能告诉我句子意思是Research on what processes?

A正好提供了这个定语，所以这个题的答案应该是A

看到这里，想到一个解题的思路：题目中the nature和 the processes 并列，两个词都是抽象名词，需要进一步解释，nature of language让我们知道是什么样的nature，而processes that…让我们知道是什么processes。说白了，这也是一种平行。可以这么说：A优于C在于A比C在意思上更加平行、完美。

这个题没有典型考点，只能事后诸葛亮通过意思推测答案，但这种推测对实战意义不大。最大的意义还在于G友们讨论争议题时的思考。正所谓复习GMAT提高的关键：在于一道题你想过多少分钟，而不在一分钟你做了多少题

我做的时候在A和C之间纠结了半天，最后还是选错成C了，发现在最后二选一的时候多数要考虑句子的逻辑含义，而不是单纯的判断语法正确性了。

AC 都有it，it应该指代language，这个过程产生语言并使其可以被理解

我觉得这题AC都很奇怪
A选项instead of是一个不好的表达，很清楚记得新东方的老师有讲过如果看到instead of和rather than.../not...but...同时出现时要排除instead of的选项。
C选项使用了一个被动语态，也不好。

对于AC来说，process都是动作的发出者，因此两个选项只有主动和被动的区别，而 GMAT从来都认为主动优于被动

还有啊，C里面by which it is produced and understood正过来就是：
it(the language) is produced and understood by which(the process)说语言就是通过这个过程产生并被理解的，怎么不对了呢？
