我们给的答案是A，国外论坛上都认为正确答案是C？？想请教牛人正确解释！！！！

感觉A里面的in 1910-1911修饰不清，可以做定语也可以做状语...所以我还是选C。

OG这道题，虽然用后面为划线部分的it就可以得出答案E，但是也可以看出来“than和as在比较时，都有代词的性质，后面可以直接加介词短语（引自tianwan）”。所以than和as后面只接一个介词短语是可以的。而且“哈雷彗星的回归”我认为可以省略，只留下介短...

I vote for C. If we choose C, the sentence compares "in no other historical sighting" with "in its return of ...." and can be arranged like: Halley’s comet caused a worldwide sensation in no other historical sighting as Halley’s comet caused a worldwide sensation in its return of 1910-1911. But if we choose A, the sentence illogically compares "Halley’s comet " with "its return".

Initially i thought should be E, coz remembered "such as + noun"....

根据主句，cause such a worldwide sensation的是哈雷彗星，不是its return。所以"its return"只能在as 从句中做状语而不能做主语。

E不正确是也是因为"its return"必须作状语，所以介词"in"必须在它前面
