标题: OG-220.谢谢
OG-220.For almost a hundred years after having its beginning in 1788, England exiled some 160,000 criminals to Australia.
(A) For almost a hundred years after having its beginning in 1788,
(B) Beginning in 1788 for a period of a hundred years,
(C) Beginning a period of almost a hundred years, in 1788,
(D) During a hundred years, a period beginning in 1788,
(E) Over a period of a hundred years beginning in 1788,
Choice D is awkward and unidiomatic, and nonsensically suggests that a hundred years is defined as a period beginning in 1788. 这题本来不就是把a hundred years定义为从1788年开始的一段时间吗?为什么说它错呢,另外为什么这里用BEGINNING而不用BAGIN呢?这不是表示过去发生的事吗?

D actually means all the ' a hundred years' is ' a period beginning in 1788'. Pls refer to the difference between restrictive and nonrestrictive relative clause or the difference between restrictve Appositive(同位语) and nonrestrictive Appositive.

d 把 a hundred years 定义成为,a period beginning in 1788, 好像说 不是begin in 1788
的就不是 a hundred years 了
