这道题在C 和 D 中选，因为紧守
not…but…的并列形式，很容易就选了C。解释C说：but可能作为介词,产生because they enhance reproduction or survival, but simply random by-products的歧意解释 D 说：but are表明了but在这里只能作为连词,构成be not… but (be)…的平行结构

这道题不能用not。。。but。。。结构，but+根据句意不能和the products of natural selection对称，只能和that结构对称
