请问是不是这里把be not...but do当作平行呢？否则前面是形容词后面是动词不平行。因为不能说not be...只有be not,因此not后面实际上还是接的动词。
厄……我本来想走语感路线的，发现不成，只能改走死扣路线了。

归结到but 和 not...but的用法区别，满麻烦的，先看个2例子吧
1.The voluminous personal papers of Thomas Alva Edison reaveal that his inventions typically did not spring to life in a flash of insperation but evolved slowly from previous works.
not 后面是 spring而but 后面是evolved，时态不一致，按照not...but的平行是不可以的，原因是这里是,,,but的用法
2.The plan cause not prosperity but ruin
not后面和but后面是肯定平行的，不论从形式和时态，因为此处是not...but的用法（注意not...but中系动词和实义动词是不能平行的）
看完例题，开始说两者的区别，最大也是最容易区分的区别就是助动词，如果前面是一个否定，那么助动词后不可避免出现not（当然我们不可能为了平行将助动词放在not后面），注意，此处可能并不是一个not...but的并列而是but并列两个动词，此处当然be和实义动词按照平行法则可以平行
你的两个例子无一例外是助动词+not的形式，是but的平行用法，也就是说，你完全可以把否定拿掉，观察平行

如果是形容词的话 a team found the noise not continuous but consisted of ...
为什么不对，not...but...后面形容词的并列，没有什么问题

觉得根本没那么复杂，rather than 不知道和谁比直接扔掉， A,C的that 指代不明确只能选B了
