标题: 再战2004之如何重新写essay
关于reapply时要重新写essay，那上次申请时所用的事情就不能再用了吗？还是可以有些essay用这一年中新发生的事，有些essay用以前的故事但是是重写。另外，新推荐信的可以是让原推荐人写一份新的吗，主要介绍一下最近一年中你的新成绩？

Sure. In most cases, when one reapplys, one needs to write one more essay. In the essay relating a few old stories from different perspective is a good solution, if you are lack of more interesting new information.

Btw, the school says that it’s up to you to chose whether rewrite them or only write a cover letter including what’s new of you. If I chose to write cover letter instead, how many words do you think it could be?

Welcome! As for the word number of the cover letter, it depends on the content of the stories. Usually, cover letter should be limited within 500 words. But, again, it depends on your stories. Good luck!

Different schools have different policies for reapplicants. Some (e.g. Stanford) want you to submit a completely new application package including essays, forms, recomms, etc. I.e. you are as fresh as a new-born baby.

Others, like Kellogg (?), only request a new essay, which will be compared against the failed application. You must read the schools' instruction carefully.
