题目：The gyrfalcon, an Arctic bird of prey, has survived a close brush with extinction; its numbers are now five times greater than when the use of DDT was sharply restricted in the early 1970's.

(A) extinction;its numbers are now five times greater than

(B) extinction;its numbers are now five times more than

OG对B选项的解释是 the use of more instead of greater inappropriately implies there are now more numbers, rather than more gyrfalcons。

不太懂OG对B选项的这个解释阿，用more than为什么不行呢，修饰its numbers没问题啊，请牛人指教，先谢谢了

我们学的时候是说，numbers是数字间的比较，要用greater修饰，more的话就变成比较具体的事物了，这里就好像是一个个的数字现在的比1970’s的时候多了。。。

就像有搭配a great number of 但是不说a many mumber of 一样。

我是这样理解的。紫皮还没做呢(*^__^*) 嘻嘻……
