85.

In 1945, after a career as First Lady in which she shattered expectations more audaciously than

either Abigail Adams or Dolly Madison ever had been, Eleanor Roosevelt was appointed a delegate

to the United Nations General Assembly by President Harry S Truman.

(A) more audaciously than either Abigail Adams or Dolly Madison ever had been, Eleanor

Roosevelt was appointed a delegate to the United Nations General Assembly by President Harry S

Truman

(B) more audaciously than either Abigail Adams or Dolly Madison, President Harry S Truman had

Eleanor Roosevelt appointed to be a delegate to the United Nations General Assembly

(C) with an audacity never matched in the case of Abigail Adams or Dolly Madison, President Harry

S Truman had Eleanor Roosevelt appointed as a delegate to the United Nations General Assembly

(D) with an audacity never matched by Abigail Adams or Dolly Madison, Eleanor Roosevelt was

appointed a delegate to the United Nations General Assembly by President Harry S Truman

(E) with an audacity never matched either in the case of Abigail Adams or of Dolly Madison's,

Eleanor Roosevelt was appointed to be a delegate to the United Nations General Assembly by President Harry S Truman。

(A) Abigail Adams or Dolly Madison ever had been结构中,had been省略结构无法还原,    也就是说

had been无法承接she shattered进行省略

就是想问这个“had been无法承接she shattered进行省略”的意思是不是指she shattered是过去时

I play tennis better than Mary does.

我觉得后者用过去完成时没错,错误在于多了个been,因为与之平行的she shattered expectations 是主动语态,后者应该是more audaciously than either Abigail Adams or Dolly Madison ever had shattered。

我没看懂这道题,什么意思啊“she shattered expectations with an audacity never matched by Abigail Adams or Dolly Madison, ”
还with an audacity,

那么,never matched by 就不对了啊,是说后面两个人没有做过shatter expectation这个动作,应该是never was done by,说前面两个人没有an audacity,应该是with an audacity that 谁和谁 never had.

百思不得其解啊,这句话“ after a career as First Lady in which she shattered expectations more audaciously than either Abigail Adams or Dolly Madison ever had been,”

In 1945, after a career asFirst Lady in which she shattered expectations with an audacity nevermatched by Abigail Adams or Dolly Madison, Eleanor Roosevelt was appointed a delegateto the United Nations General Assembly by President Harry S Truman.

前面那一坨正常语序应该是: she shattered expectations with an audacity never matched by Abigail Adams or Dolly Madison in a career as first lady

1. Abigail Adams
2. Dolly Madison was the spouse of the fourth President of the United States, James Madison, and First Lady of the United States from 1809 to 1817.
3. Eleanor Roosevelt
4. President Harry S Truman.

然后有一坨坨修饰 a career as first lady的,说ER这个人当first lady的时候比其他那两个first lady 更有胆识,还粉碎了啥期望。
