刚查了字典，发现有一个点说得很好
such....as....的as可以当作关系代名词引导形容词子句，表示这一类的.....
我想应该把句子这样看such a worldwide sensation as did (caused) its return in 1910-1911, as的先行词是worldwide sensation, its return in 1910-1911引起的这一类worldwide sensation, so vote for (A)

确实C选项更好，从比较对象对等的角度来说。
the comet 和its return 来比较，没有the comet 本身在不同时期产生的影响来比较的好。
此外，句子把状语提前起到强调的作用，是不是也进一步说明把此作为比较的对象核心呢。。。偶想应该是这样的吧
呵呵，CD真好，可以和大家一起讨论，不同角度的考虑，可以更全面的比较选项之间的优劣

但我们来看原题，如果选C的话，对称双方是In no other historical sighting 和in its return of 1910-1911，我们从逻辑上考虑，前者的施动者应该是“观察者”，是一种由人发出的动作，而后者in its return of 1910-1911中的施动者是哈雷彗星，且“在哈雷彗星的回归中...”和“在对哈雷彗星的观测中”，显然在逻辑上存在不妥
当然了，这也只是大家拿来讨论了，困怕在考场上很少有人这样分析了，所以我觉得这道题重点还在与大家对倒装的辨识，这点练会了才是王道啊

由于主谓跟主句完全一致，省略又不会造成歧义的情况下，可以省略。

E不知道作什么成分，而且也无法和对称平行

这题(OG138))充分说明了句意逻辑至上！其实C也不是perfect，那个of应该改成in，OG的那长段解释里面就说的是"in its return in 1910-1911"。但是，在GMAT看来，A的比较对象不对等是严重逻辑问题，which outweighs the idiom issue in C....
A的比较对象不对等：
1. "in historical sighting"和"in 1910-1911"不可比，"historical sighting"是一个event，event不能和时间比，可以和"its return"比。
2. "Halley's Comet"不能和"its return"比
