Being able to predict the strength and the direction of an earthquake could save lives and million of property damage.
B The capability for predicting the strength and the direction of an earthquake would mean that lives are saved
C The ability to predict the strength and the direction of an earthquake would mean that lives are saved
D The ability of predicting the strength and the direction of an earthquake would mean that lives are saved(此选项前面不敢确定，但would后确定)
E The ability for predicting the strength and the direction of an earthquake could save lives
该选A还是E,还是其他的？动明词作主语的时候有什么讲究没有？多谢

感觉题目应该不是很对吧。

排除：BDE。原因：固定搭配： capability of doing, ability to do sth.

排除C。 would mean that lives are saved 和后面的 and million of property damage. 连不上。

A好像也不是会。这个 Being able to predict..., 这么看也不像ETS favor 的主语结构。而且 save lives and million of property damage. 也有问题。 save damage. 个人认为这种搭配怪。

语法JJ可能是最不可靠的，MM看得时候只要分析错误就可以了。

这题JJ我选E
A： being不合理的进行。也找不到为何省略。be able to 本身囉唆，也未見放句首過。
B： 1句义颇怪2 would像虚拟语气却找不到if
C： and 对称，但向後省略。且還是懷疑would的句義。
D： 1句义颇怪2 would像虚拟语气却找不到if
E： 1 the ability for 在英文中有人这样用的，请去yahoo搜寻看看。 2 could极好。表有可能能够。
但ability for 最好是 the ability for Sb to V

请多指教！
