请问the number是作twelve的同位语吗?另外,be known to和be known as各是什么意思?如何去用?

我觉得twelve和number不是同位语, 原句应该按正常语序为: doubling the number of ...to twelve. 以本题为例, 我理解的known to do和known as的用法是: B选项中satellites known to orbit...中的known to do是过去分词做定语修饰名词satellites, D选项中若要用satellites known as orbiting, 不正确, 因为A known as B 的意思是“A被认为是B”, A和B必须在词性上有一致性。 即"一个东东可以被认为是另一个东东"。 这里名词satellites和动名词orbiting不能对应。作者: excellent 时间: 2004-1-20 19:07
谢谢您的解答!请问be known to do是何含义?作者: rabbitbug 时间: 2004-1-20 19:24
呵呵, be known to do不是什么特殊的用法, 就跟一般的不定式to do一样的翻译方法。 satellites now known to orbit the distant planet->现在已经知道的绕那颗遥远的行星运行的人造卫星。
