GWD17-12:

Mauritius was a British colony for almost 200 years, excepting for the domains of administration and teaching, the English language was never really spoken on the island.

 

A.    excepting for

B.    except in

C.    but except in

D.    but excepting for

E.     with the exception of

这句话需要个转折,所以排除ABE.留下CD.根据句子意思,可以看出需要表示的意思是除了在。。。地方,再加上根据词典写的EXCEPTING的用法-通常跟在NOT后,可以肯定是选C.

搜到了 貌似是excepting用于否定句
