1.        Bill Walton continued on playing, even though he had injuries that recurred over and over again, always hoping to return back to his           position   as a regular starter in the game he loved.

(A) on playing, even though he had injuries that recurred over and over again, always hoping to return back

(B) playing, in spite of recurrent injuries, always hoping to return

(C) playing, though injured over and over, and he was always hoping to return back

(D) on playing, even with injuries that recurred, and always hoped to returnB

(E) to play, despite recurring injuries, hoping that the return

Beatrix Potter, in her book illustrations, carefully coordinating them with her narratives, capitalized on her keen observation and love of the natural world.

(A) Beatrix Potter, in her book illustrations, carefully coordinating them with her narratives,

(B) In her book illustrations, carefully coordinating them with her narratives, Beatrix Potter

(C) In her book illustrations, which she carefully coordinated with her narratives, Beatrix Potter

(D) Carefully coordinated with her narratives, Beatrix Potter, in her book illustrationsC

(E) Beatrix Potter, in her book illustrations, carefully coordinated them with her narratives and

这个是解释:Them cannot refer to book illustrations because the plural noun is the object of the preposition in;

the relationships among the parts of the sentence are unclear。

1.
A - "over and over again" is redundant because of "recurred"
C - "back" is redundant because of "return"
D - "on" is redundant because of "continued"
E - "the return..." is a fragment.
只好選B, 可是B中的"in spite of..."
umm...不是很肯定, 可是even though he had injuries that recurred over and over again是從句, hoping是有可能修"recurred"?
B沒有這個問題因為in spite of recurrent injuries不是一個(從)句子

yes

S+V+preposition+O
sigh...

example:

5.         (24635-!-item-!-188;#058&001505)

Like
their male counterparts, women scientists are above average in terms of
intelligence and creativity, but unlike men of science, their female
counterparts have had to work
against the grain of occupational
stereotyping to enter a "man's world."

(A)
their female counterparts have had to work
(B)
their problem is working
(C) one
thing they have had to do is work
(D) the
handicap women of science have had is to work
(E)
women of science have had to work

prep分析注释有道理, 可是我覺得unlike是一個preposition, 所以A主句的指代(their)不可以指men of science...
