不好意思，贴错了，答案应该是C

语法笔记对B的解释是：both and 使用错误。我拿上放大镜也没找到这个both。

另外，我认为这句话的重点是咖啡豆的产量不同在哪里，而不是因为什么而不同

希望大家能来探讨下

I think it is the best way to say "on A, B, and C" than "on A and on B and C" or "on A as well as on B and C"
I never heard or read anything like the later two.....

In A, it is obvious that size, climate, and altitude are a set of parallel three, it doesn't make anysense to group the later two together and parallel the group with its size.
In C, even if the both is omitted, still has the same issue as A.

dependent应该是依赖的意思，一般不做根据。。而。。。

dependent on为形容词做插入语，修饰tree没错的话。

那dependent on……and on……也没有错误啊～～

depending on its size and on climate and altitude难道不会造成修饰歧义吗？有可能是做定于修饰TREE.也有可能是做状语修饰PRODUCE 啊？

查过了dependent on了，貌似不是区别点。in that和because也不存在绝对的优先级，所以只能把原因归到also上了。总之这个题争议比较大唉。

用dependent的话，就是说树依赖于climate and altitude生产berry。如果是说树依赖其某种成分来生产berry还差不多。（就是没这成分，树就生产不了berry那种感觉）
意思就不一样了。

为什么我觉得这句话的意思是
because + depending on its size and on climate and altitude, a single tree is able to produce ...
这样的话，depending就是在修饰single tree。理论上可以换成dependent。

我还没有看到一本书上说过，现在分词在修饰上的所谓优先。。只能说现在分词有别的修饰词所不能实现的效果，但并不因此排除其其他功能。

此理论还需验证。

as stated above, "dependent" is an adjective, and "depending" is a participle (which introduces an adverbial modifier that modifies the action of the clause, rather than modifying a noun).

the bigger problem here, though, lies in the different meanings of the 2 words. "dependent" refers to reliance on another for some kind of support (as in "my children are dependent on me for their food and shelter"). so not only is that choice sketchy in terms of grammar, but its meaning is also all kinds of wrong: it makes no sense to say that a tree is "dependent" on its size (does its size provide it with food or water? etc)

这道题在08prep有作为引用解释“主语，现在分词短语，谓宾”这种结构中，现分是不是总会存在歧义（作状语or定语），貌似总结是：按照习惯用语，这个现分都是用作伴随状语的，因此，不存在作为后置非限定修饰语的可能性，所以，dependent这种用法不好
