165. At Shiprock, New Mexico, a perennially powerful girls' high school basketball team has become a path to college for some and a source of pride for a community where the household incomes of 49 percent of them are below the poverty level.

答案是C
C答案的意思应该是指“49%的家庭的收入…………”吧？
可是这个答案我不能理解成“家庭收入中的49%…………”吗？
如果C答案改成where incomes of 49 percent of the household are是否会更好点了？可是这种表达读起来总觉得挺别扭的。

我们做gmat语法是在比较答案，c是几个答案中最好的答案。我想它的意思是“在这个乡镇，49%的有家庭收入的人低于贫困线”

“A of B ”的意思不一定就是“B的A ”，而有时是“A中有B的性质”，而在原题中49%的性质就是他们有家庭收入。我不知道我表达清楚没有，请各位补充。

Maybe, but not sure.

事实上，49% of the "household incomes"和"incomes of 49% of the household"有完全不同的含义，且后者有歧义。由于后面跟着are below，C这种讲法几乎成了绝版。

这道题目，我就是很迷惑，才搜索出来，但感觉恐怕只有2楼的“模糊语感说”才是最好的解释了。
就好象OG 9 的they believe to be of ,表示一种类属感念，但实际用类属解释就有点牵强，或许最终的解释应该是英语语言习惯的传统性要求。

好比汉语，喝酒
喝多————————————————————喝醉了
喝的多———————————————————喝的多，不一定醉。

ANYWAY，就知道它是对的就可以了，希望自己能记住

应该为以下这样结构才对吧？

a little bit confused. about choice C, we can treat it as "49 percent of the incomes are .... " , so can we translate it into 收入的49%处于贫困线下 or 49% 的收入处于贫困线下. However, it sounds illogical. Who can explain again. Thanks a lot.

household incomes 是指这个community各个家庭的收入(即是一系列数据），而不是community的收入总和，也不是某一个家庭的收入，因为它用的是复数而非单数。比如：

在A community有5个families,poverty level 是500元，tom家收入400，mike家600，lisa家700，mary家200，john家600。那这个community就是：40% of household incomes are below the poverty level.

所以，49% of household incomes are below the level是指这些收入数据中的49%在线下,没有歧义。

严重同意philikittist从单复数角度的分析，但是断句我认为应该是 49％ of household ，incomes

如果要表达“家庭收入的49％”，turtlechen提出过“双重所有格”的概念，但链接已经无法看到，但根据我的查询，此处不能用“双重所有格”

双重所有格：在表示所属物的名词前有冠词，数词，不定代词或指示代词时，常用“ of词组+所有格”来表示所有关系，这就构成了双重所有格如：a play of Shakespear’s (莎士比亚的一部戏剧)。用不用双重所有格有时候意思也是有区别的

a picture of my father's
（属于我父亲的照片）
a picture of my father
（我父亲本人的照片）

那么“家庭收入的49％”似乎应该是用“49 percent of the household income’s ” 表达。但是我认为这种说法是错误的，因为“只有表示有生命的东西的名词所有格才在名词后加’s”，所以双重所有格只是对于有生命的东西才存在。表示无生命东西的名词一般与of构成词组表示所有关系, 如：the color of the shoes等。所以我认为“49 percent of the household income ”（注意income这里是单数）就可以了，单复数是关键(income通常都是单数）。

我觉得不能这么改

49 percent of the household incomes 是“49%的家庭的收入…………”表达的是社区中一个一个家庭的概念,

一个community有10个家庭.总共收入100万,那么c的意思就是,4.9个家庭的收入在贫困线以下

改成where incomes of 49 percent of the household are就变成49%得家庭得收入了逻辑意思改变,是不是产生一种歧义

就是49%的家庭的收入总和在贫困线以下?那可真是穷到姥姥家了.

是不是还有一种歧义,就是一个household里住了10个人where incomes of 49 percent of the household 就是4.9个人的收入在贫困线下?

相比之下还是答案c比较清晰,没有歧义

考点：逻辑，指代。

houeshold incomes是复数名词，清楚地指一份一份的income，避免了指所有income的数字之和的歧异。

因为community不是集合名词，不能表全体成员并接复数谓语，所以A，B和E中的they/them无指代，错。B和D逻辑错，选C。

各选项的意思：

A和E表达的是全体社区人员中占49％这么多个人的家庭收入低于贫困线；

B和D表达该社区拥有（全市？全国？）所有低于贫困线收入份数的49％；

C表达该社区中的家庭收入中占到49％那么多的份数低于贫困线。
