C)中，fewer应为less，因为是指更少量的：更少种类（fewer)的二氧化碳和其它废气在这里语义不通。另外，“and also they”应为“and they also”或“and also, they”，虽然不是主要错误。

可是, 为什么A中的as well as后面可以跟emitting而不是emit呢?

这个前面有人说过了，xxx do sth, as well as doing sth是固定结构

as well as doing这两个结构都有而且都对的,不能判断.

less modify the "gas" itself,

fewer modify the "gases", plural when refer to different kinds of gas
