难道是 now 和when 对比？

正确答案是A

这里用numbers 和 when对比，不对称阿？

难道是 now 和when 对比？

请教！

MM，可能意思是没有理解对》

这里比较的是状语，是now和when的时间段表示。。

就是现在的人数比当xxxx的时候的人数比较。。

但我怎样区别状语比较和其他的比较呢？比如这道题，我先入为主的就认为是numbers 和其余的比较。

我怎么也感觉是NUMBERS跟NUMBERS比较呢，用了FIVE TIME GREATER.不过这题用排除法，最好的答案也只有A了。有NN可以解释吗？

这道题还有一个疑问是：its numbers, 为什么number用了复数呢？ the number of sth 是单数阿？

是在比较numbers, 只是后面的省略了而以(重复内容可以省略)

its numbers are now five times greater than (its numbers are) when the use of DDT was sharply restricted in the early 1970's.

这里到状语为止都是相同的,所以也可以象二楼说的那样理解为庄语的比较

告诉你们吧，是这样的：这道题只能选A和B,XDF大法！
如果原文是分号，答案一定是分号！
哈哈哈

但是B显然不对啊，numbers只能greater，怎么能more呢？数字只能比大小，不能比多少！

另外，我觉得7楼的解释也有些问题：than后面省略的its numbers are应该是its numbers were 吧？既然时态不同，为什么可以省略呢？急需NN解惑！
