这个题选A,怎么选的我明白了,但是就针对D和E的AS WITH 这个用法,请大家再给些建议,这个AS WITH用法在GMAT里是正确的吗?谢谢

(1) As with everyone, a loss of a beloved pet brings grief , pain, emptiness and a Broken Heart.
(2) As with any emergency, local authorities may not be able to immediately provide information on what is happening and what you should do.
从这两句来看, 确实有as with的用法, 但是它并不是构成比较, 而是翻译成"对于...来说".
大家指教!

From GMAT SC大全 #938 (also LZM's 10-9):
938. With diamonds, as with all gems, one should ask for a written description of one’s purchase; the description may prove useful later if you have reason to believe the jeweler misled you.
(A) one should ask for a written description of one’s purchase
(B) you should ask for a written description of your purchase
(C) a written discretion of your purchase is what one should ask for
(D) a written description of one’s purchase is what should be asked for
(E) a written description of your purchase is what should be asked for
As you might know, "as" has that magical comparative function. But "as with" and "as in" do comparisons as a different animal. Check out LZM's on "as + 状语的省略结构" on page 187.
enough as'es?

206. Like Auden, the language of James Merrill is chatty, arch, and conversational--given to complex syntactic flights as well as to prosaic free-verse strolls.
(A) Like Auden, the language of James Merrill
(B) Like Auden, James Merrill's language
(C) Like Auden's, James Merrill's language
(D) As with Auden, James Merrill's language
(E) As is Auden's the language of James Merrill
At issue is a comparison of Auden's language with Merrill's language. Only C, the best choice, uses the elliptical like Auden's (language being understood), to compare Auden's language with Merrill's language. A, B, and D compare Auden (the person) with Merrill's language. Choice E is awkward and unidiomatic.
OG206解释中没说D的as with不能用,只说了这样用比较对象有问题。是不是真的能用呢?
