39. Scientists have recently discovered what could be the largest and oldest living organism on Earth, a giant fungus that is an interwoven filigree of mushrooms and rootlike tentacles spawned by a single fertilized spore some 10,000 years ago and extending for more than 30 acres in the soil of a Michigan forest.
b) extends
c) extended
d) it extended
e) is extending
答案是A,想必大家都很熟悉了。
那么E为什么不行呢?正好跟前面的is an interwoven filigree 并列啊。
是一定要有that吗?这里的that是引导定语从句,做并列的时候后面的那个that可以省略吧?
继续补充一下,在这里http://www.qiuxue8.com/methods/grammer/20070601/454_2.html
(2)在两个并列的that从句如主语相同,而谓语不同,可把第二个that从句的连词和主语一起省略。
Tell Peter that I'll call to see him and (that I 'll ) have talk with him.
61. (27809-!-item-!-188;#058&003354)
The bones of Majungatholus atopus, a meat-eating dinosaur that is a distant relative of
Tyrannosaurus rex and closely resembles South American predatory dinosaurs, have been
discovered in Madagascar.
A正确,这里就是定语从句的that给省了。看来这条判断也不能给错误选项定罪。。看完prep我觉得没活路了,呵呵。
谢谢mm哦,加油!
prep真难,我一般都要错40%以上。唉。
A report by the American Academy for the Advancement of Science has concluded that much of the currently uncontrolled dioxins to which North Americans are exposed comes from the incineration of wastes.
(A) much of the currently uncontrolled dioxins to which North Americans are exposed comes
(B) much of the currently uncontrolled dioxins that North Americans are exposed to come
(C) much of the dioxins that are currently uncontrolled and that North Americans are exposed to comes
(D) many of the dioxins that are currently uncontrolled and North Americans are exposed to come
(E) many of the currently uncontrolled dioxins to which North Americans are exposed come
Choices A, B, and C are flawed because the countable noun dioxins should be modified by many rather than much, which is used with uncountable nouns such as “work” and “happiness.” In addition, both A and C incorrectly use the singular verb comes with the plural noun dioxins. Choices C and D are needlessly wordy, and D requires that before North Americans, to be grammatically complete. Choice E, the best answer, is both grammatically correct and concise.
