标题: 关于从咨询转IB

我现在美国学DATABASE MARKETING（又叫Marketing Research）, 硕士学位，打算一边考CFA，毕业进CONSULTING FIRM做一些金融相关的项目。不知道这样的career path对于最终去IB可行么？

比较外行，还请多指教！

I was doing internship in a marketing research company, but more focus on equity research, our clients are all hedge funds, and our competitors are research departments in investment banks.

every thing is possible, do not care those irresponsible answers, like 2nd floor one...

I used to be a consultant and am now working in the private equity group of an i-bank

Even though PE is a combination of consulting, ibanking and entreprenurship, you still find the skill sets and nature of job is so different from consulting. That said, switching from consulting to ibanking must be more difficult, and I guess the toughest part is really about culture difference -- in consulting you are supposed to be creative, but in ibanking, you are supposed to execute. A nice book to read is Monkey Business

BTW, it is not easy for consultant to jump ship to ibanking, especially in this kind of market situation.

本来做data mining的作Consulting就不容易，做了Consulting转IB则更难。你要说真要说有可能，废话，一切皆有可能，但如果这个可能是1/100，1/1000，1/1000 甚至更低，值得你用人生中最美好的几年去赌么?
