此题选D，我选E。是在看不出E错哪里了？in small quantities和in large quantities不是很平行么？而且prep里说they有指代spices和quantities的可能，但是后面就有quantities啊，哪有quantities are taken in large quantities这么笨的想法？

E錯是因為the usage不可能in small quantities.

看看they指代谁，然后看D用什么来替代E里面的they了，不过真奇怪，这句话的答案怎么把句子结构都给改了

1）(E) In cooking, the usage of spices is in small quantities, whereas in medicinal usage they are taken

they 指代不明~~ 即可指spices又可以指quantities

2）"the usage of spices is in small quantities" 表达也蛮怪的，quantities修饰中心词usage明显没有修饰spices好，spices是实名词， usage是从动词use转过来的抽象名词~

umm...hard to explain
but u can think about this way, what's "in small quantities"?
不是usage, 是spices
從D可以看出, small quantities of spices...

D用了spices代了A, B and E 中的they

1) D 是两个被动并列 spice are used,  whereas spices are taken

2) E  the usage of spices is in small quantities 表达方式不好  they指代不明
