请问选项D为什么不对？a period为什么不能做During a hundred years的同位语？

另外，During a hundred years做时间状语，谓语动词用什么时态？

我觉得D中的a period beginning in 1788,在修饰a hundred years，但是a hundred years明显不能是a period

我实在笨拙的很，为什么一百年不可以是一个时期呀？

我觉得During a hundred years才能是一个时期，a hundred years是个时间概念

"a hundred years" is over a hundred.
"during" is used as a period with a strat and an end.
