(B) relation of one nation with another that illustrates
(C) relations between nations that illustrate
(D) relation of one nation with another and illustrate
(E) relations of nations that illustrates

正确答案是B，我的答案是D
这个题目明显是跳跃修饰的，其中划线部分的that定语从句不知道是修饰哪个名词。有可能是episodes、relations、nation。到底是修饰哪一个名词至少单纯从句子结构上是分析不出来，所以我认为这样的情况下，使用定语从句是非常不合适的，所以我选了个没有使用定语从句的选项。当然我也看出来了，illustrate没有使用过去式。请大牛解释一下，这里如何选择呢？

在OG 里，你会发现 A of B which/that, 有时which/that 是修饰 A 而不是B 的，这是可以的。你search 一下前人有好多讨论这点的。

there are 2 possibilities that 'which' modifies words which are farther:

1, it shouldn't cause any ambiguity by using singular and plural. in this case, 'relation' should be singular, thus, 'illustrates' modifies 'relation'.

2, it must be cogically sound .so it doesn't make sense to refer to 'nation with another'

3, can anybody explain what the structure is of "relation of nation with another", pls?（试着用了一个倒装，不知对不对，请指教）

可是我觉得还是没有讲清楚呀？其实这个题目不是关键，关键是下一次我遇到同样类型的题目，我怎么才能选对呢？

我水品很差,我瞎解一下:
1.between用于两个物体或国家的比较,这里既然是nations,就不可以用between,排除A,C
2.illustrates不可能和前面并列,所以排除D
3.E没有比较意思,所以是B
