语法笔记的解释是:
B. When从句在此句中使用错误，when引起的从句可以作为定语从句或者状语从句。作定语从句时，要求先行词是表示时间的词或词组；作状语从句要求有动作作为合理的修饰对象。when…应该置于that之后。
E. 正确

句子结构：Because…, Mercy Otis Warren was at or near…, and this vantage point, …, made…
该句划线部分以前描述了一个客观事实，这个事实在句中能被a vantage point概括，所以该句划线部分用同位语加从句 a vantage point that…，是很好的结构，进一步对the vantage point进行解释说明。而this vantage point同样起到了概括前句事实的效果，用连词and连接两个句子。

考生一定不可看到a vantage point that…这种结构，就不假思索的认为这种结构就一定是正确的。实际上，在本书中，出现了类似a vantage point that…这种同位语结构，但是这种结构并不是正确答案的情况，已经不是第一次出现了。

我的看法:B应该是正确选项. 黄色部分其实是一个"插入语",就相当于while+过去分词的形式，只是这里while换成when。说when compared“作状语从句要求有动作作为合理的修饰对象。”我觉得这里的compared修饰对象很清楚就是前面的a vantage point。Open to discuss!

先声明哦,以下纯属个人的猜测性~~解释:

语法上,B项是原句于句尾的同位语,E项是and连接的与原句并列的分句;逻辑含义上B项在加进when的同时,改变了原句的意思.原句并没有说vantage point使她成为 one of the most valuable historians of the era是when combined with her talent for writing.
