标题: 请问定语从句的先行词(如that)什么情况下可以省略？

我一直以为定语从句，宾语从句的引导词，在GMAT中是不可以省略的，但是PREP里有这样的题目

The success of the program to eradicate smallpox has stimulated experts to pursue what they had not previously considered possible--better control, if not eradication, of the other infections such as measles and yaws.

(A) what they had not previously considered possible--better control, if not eradication, of the other infections such as

C就是被我直接排除的，理由就是sth后面没有定语从句先行词，不过我做了这么多题，这好像是第一道省略引导词的

所以想问问，是否省略？如果是小概率事件，我索性忘记这题

一般情况下定语从句和宾语从句的that是不能省略的，但是也不是绝对，因为在非标准语种也经常省略。。

这个题目用排除法就只能选C

A不对，因为the other xxxx不能单独使用。。除非用other xxxx。。

看D，previously程度副词修饰动词，不能随意改变位置。。 perhaps和possibility重复。。

所以这里的that省略问题不是考点。。

hmm...想問一下, "the other xxx不能單獨使用"是什麼意思?
我以為A不對是因為better control of the other infections意思上令到這句句子怪怪, 因為這句是想說"比較好的控制smallpox方法"而不是"比較好的控制smallpox以外的infections方法"...??
