Besides adding complementary flavors to many foods, hot sauces stimulate the release of endorphins in the brain, just as exercise does, and these have a pain-relieving effect like morphine's.

(A) hot sauces stimulate the release of endorphins in the brain, just as exercise does, and these have a pain-relieving effect like morphine's

(B) hot sauces stimulate the release of endorphins in the brain, like exercise, and they have a pain-relieving effect that is like morphine

(C) hot sauces and exercise both stimulate the release of endorphins in the brain, and they have a pain-relieving effect like morphine

(D) the release of endorphins in the brain is stimulated both by hot sauces and exercise, and they have a pain-relieving effect like morphine's

(E) the release of endorphins in the brain is stimulated by hot sauces, just as with exercise, and these have a pain-relieving effect like that of morphine

答案是A。但B中除了effect that is like morphine比较对象不对，以及like exercise的位置不对外

prep笔记中说最后分句的they指代不明，不知道是指代sauces还是endorphins

但竟然A的these可以指代清楚是endorphins？我记得白勇的书上写this/that/these不能单独充当主语，之前做那些题都没有见过these这样用的

请问大家these可以这样用吗？为什么they不行？

没错，这个these用的确实“违背”了几户所有语法“规则”，求牛人来解答！

我当初作这一题也有相同的疑问，好在你有提起，让我又去找找。
在GMAT，these多半作adj，作代名词的大概就是这一题吧！
请看以下句子，或许可以解惑

Autumn brings pears
and grapes with it.
Those are juicier than these.
前者…........................後者

是不是可以看作是特例？

这里还是选择最优答案 these、they、it的指代问题更多地体现了句子的有效性好不好但不能作为判断对错的根本依据在prep中已经出现数道题在以前看来都是代词指代矛盾的例子但都被看成是正确的了

是mrophine has吗(与these have 对应)?!

其实楼主所说的: this,that,these,those 单出错误, 是属于新东方规律总结里的...从白勇讲到王少华...
这是属于 Effectiveness Mistake. 就像4楼说的.

关键是选项B, 后面的 effect that is like morphine, 属于 Correctness Mistake 了.
明明应该是 endorphins effect 比较 morphine effect. 不应该是 effect 去比较 morphine. 所以大错特错了.

选项A, 后面的 and these (就近指代endorphins) have a pain-relieving effect like morphine's (指代morphine effect)
注意: 这 morphine effect 短语是修饰前面那个单词 effect. 中文意思: 象(吗啡产生的效果)那样相似的效果

6楼会问: 那为什么不是 mrophine has ? 不是有对应吗?
其实如果是 mrophine has 的话, 那么就不应该是 like 这词,而应该用 as. 因为从所周知么: as A do, B do.
选项A 的like, 并不是什么: like A, B do 只是作为短语 like morphine's 修饰 effect 而已.
