B.       it is closing up to one-fourth of its stores, which
        accounted for its poor sales

C.      it was closing up to one fourth of its stores
        because of poor sales.

D.      to be closing, on account of poor sales, up to one-fourth of its stores.

E.       having poor sales, such that up to one-fourth of its stores will be closed.

我知道A选项的代词指代有问题，可是我不明白为什么正确选项(C)it前没有that呢，anounced引导的明显是一个宾语从句的么！请NN指教，谢谢！

省略里面讲过宾语从句省略that的情况：在及物动词后面所接的宾语从句中，连词that 一般可以省略；但如果及物动词后面是由that引导的两个或两个以上的并列的宾语从句，那么只有第一个that可以省略。

Gmat中宾语从句的that不能省略，这在很多题都里都是解题的方法，为什么在这里不适用了？

我也同意 A。 不记得在哪里有过，A of B 结构中 B是可以被指代的，如果这里的they 可以指代up to one-fourth of its stores  不就可以了吗？但是我实在不觉得C是对的，因为引导宾语从句的 that 很少被省略，特别是较长的句子

LONGMAN的解释还有一条，可能有用，

我觉得没有必要这么仔细研究that什么时候省略吧，这里的话很明显答案是C，其他选项都有非常明显的错误。

我也觉得，有时候对所谓的原则抓得太死，反而影响解题，GMAT题做多了，自然会有些语感出来，这题偶也第一感觉是C。A的表达方式很模糊，容易起混淆。

这题应该选D，C也是错的。

这题应该选D，C也是错的。

  are poor, they will be closed.无指代 A虽然用了that引导，但是时态选词指代结构表达都比较一锅粥。

B.       it is closing up to one-fourth of its stores, which
  accounted for its poor sales B没有that引导时态错了，which account for..也是词不达意

C.      it was closing up to one fourth of its stores
  because of poor sales. C没有that引导（我不记得在that上有任何区别待遇，应该必须都有that）而且C里面one fourth的写法是错的，必须有横杠。

D.      to be closing, on account of poor sales, up to one-fourth of its stores. D正确

E.       having poor sales, such that up to one-fourth of its stores will be closed. E是一锅粥。

现在that从句也不可以排除了么

宾语从句省略that并不是绝对错误（时代变了）：

１。ｐｒｅｐ破解中曾出现过未画线部分出现　　ｓａｙ　＋　宾从　无　ｔｈａｔ
２。上面有同学说过　这题是新ｐｒｅｐ中原题，答案为Ｃ那么ａｎｎｏｕｎｃｅ看来也是可以省

看了大家一年多以前的讨论，真是受益匪浅，这里面有原句，里面并没有省略that。

在manhattan上明确说了这样的that不能省呀。我倾向于选D，不太同意A的说法。

D中to be doing应该不对吧，to do (to close) 应该更好
