答案是D。偶觉得will drop 需要和rise平行，所以需要用will rise或rise（will）省略。请NN们分析一下。偶用排除法选的C，虽然losses看起来怪怪的。

'while' is a conjunction,and it is used to show contrast. The first subject compared is 'rate of additon....', so the second subject compared should be the counterpart of the first subject. Among the answers, only D meets the requirement. 'The rate of loss' is parallel to 'the rate of addition....'. As for the parallelism between the two verbs, it is less important. If the 'rate' were to be replaced by a pronoun, the pronoun would be 'that' rather than 'those'. Thus, A is wrong.

谢谢回复。可我不大理解为什么动词的对应是不重要的，而名词的对应更重要。而且前面是predict，表示将来，后面用the rate of loss rises也不合适啊。

我认为：that/those是代替前面的名次的，如果按照你的说法的话，those之前的名词是只能代替lands，明显词义不对。。

我个人的感觉，主语的平行比谓语的平行要重要，否则的话，即便谓语平行的一塌糊涂，但主语作为动作的发出者不平行，也就失却了比较的意义。这个句子的谓语是平行的，一个drop, 一个increase, 只是在形式上不时那么绝对平行而也。我不是牛牛，也者能回答道这个程度了。

我的猜想，while 在这里是‘与...同时’的意思，那原句就是 predict 当 the rate of loss to lands rises的时候，the rate of addition... 将会（will）drop。

while引导从句就是although的意思，表示让步，前后对比。

比较双方对等即可比很重要，这里就是rate of。。。those划线了，代词指代有误。动词在这题里面对等没那么重要，毕竟while连接的是从句。
