It is a bit late to answer your question as I just found this forum. If you are still around this forum, you can read my comment in this topic "有在美国念supply chain master的吗？" You will find some answers to your questions.

There are a lot of analysis to do in SCM and logistics. The idea of SCM, which logistics is part of the chain is to deliver the right products and services to the right customers at the right time, in the right quantity at the right price. How can company do that? There is a lot of analysis to do and then create business process improvement initiatives to make the flow better. Depends on your position, your job may involve a lot of daily operation or a lot of analysis.

I think programmer can be a good fit for SCM as SCM depends heavily in IT as most analysis requires programs to run. If you have system analysis or business program experience and you understand business users' need. It will benefit you in job searching. Of course, if you can get a MBA with SCM emphasis then it is even better. Nevertheless, SCM MBA is not the best major to help you stay in the US.

MBA graudate in good SCM B-school gets about US$80K a year. However, as a foreign student, you will face many obsticles in job hunting especially in bad economic times like right now in the US. So all I can say is good luck. If you realy want to stay and work in the U.S., study Accounting and Finance or anything relate to health care such as nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, audiology, psychology. With a master's degree in any of these health care profession you are guarantee with a good job and very good pay with green card and citizenship. The best thing is that you don't deal with high stress at the job like people in business. Hope these help.
