我觉得是What was back into the ...., once 与when 的意思相同，即当。。时候

这句主语是what was once sea floor.

谓语是is swept

through.....of the earth是定语,back into....是宾语的补足语.

is swept：谓语

through fissures in the mantle of the earth back into the melting zone of the earth’s deeper layers：状语

where it is converted to molten rock：deeper layers的定语从句

翻译：过去海床的地表结构，在现在通过地幔的裂缝流入地球内部的区域，并在这个区域被重新变为熔岩

补充一点：mantle地幔，是地表与地核之间的岩石层——其实不用知道，猜也能猜出来。
