标题: section 2- 12 [打印本页] 作者: applemusic 时间: 2004-1-2 06:59 标题: section 2- 12 12. The upcoming presidential election in the West African republic of Ganelon is of grave concern to the U.S. State Department. Ganelon presently has strong political and military ties to the United States. However, the Socialist party is widely expected to win the election, leading to fears that Ganelon will soon break away from the pro-American bloc and adopt a nonaligned or openly anti-American stance. Which of the following is an assumption made in the passage above? (A) A Socialist party government in Ganelon is more likely to oppose the United States than is a non-Socialist party government. (B) The people of the United States recognize their nation’s interest in the political stability of West Africa. (C) A weakening of U.S. political ties with Ganelon could have serious consequences for U.S. relations with other African nations. (D) The Socialist party leaders in Ganelon believe that their nation’s interests would best be served by an alliance with anti-American forces. (E) The Socialist party will win the upcoming election in Ganelon. socialist 和non-socialist有什么关系啊,怎么就假设到non-socialist 上去了,这个答案是1,能不能细讲讲假设的过程? 作者: mindfree 时间: 2004-1-2 08:25
The ruling party is non-socialist, as implied as the argument. The gap is that the argument only said that social party will rule and the country will be anti-america. Just like that gap if I say that Lieberman will take the next presedency and the next president of the USA will be a democrat. The assumption is Lieberman is a democrat. And the assumption is the argument is that socialist is (more) anti-american (than current ruling party).作者: wkzhao 时间: 2004-1-4 11:45
how about the choice D ?作者: ecsniffer 时间: 2004-2-24 15:27
D
their nation’s interests would best be served by an alliance with anti-American forces错。文中提到“adopt a nonaligned or openly anti-American stance” 所以d选项与文中信息相反,不可能拿来做assumption
