我懂E是典型的他因。可是A 为什么不对？A说新房子有空气过滤系统，不就直接weaken“新房子空气质量比老房子差”的结论了嘛？还有C我也不明白，题目中解释是新房子建在垃圾区或者尾气严重的区域，那么C说新房子建在空气质量好的隐蔽处，不就直接weaken解释了嘛？

A：反过来想，正因为新空气太差，所以需要装过滤系统。
C：题目问新屋are built near the sites of old waste dumps or where automobile emissions are heavy ，此选项讲New houses built in secluded rural areas 讨论的对象根本不一样，所以无关。

楼主是把要weaken的东西看错了，要weaken的是explanation而不是结论。也就是说要否定的是这句话：The reason air-pollution levels are higher in the newer houses is that many such houses are built near the sites of old waste dumps or where automobile emissions are heavy.A只是说新房子里的空气净化系统把房子里的污染remove了，但是根本没有攻击explanation中说的污染是由于外面的垃圾倾倒和尾气排放。而C是strengthen了explanation，说房子在空气环境好的地方就没有污染是支持了解释的。E选项是他因削弱，说是因为屋子里的新材料造成的，直接削弱了

结论是说房子空气是由垃圾和尾气造成的。
A是一个无关的事实，没在讨论造成空气不好的原因。
C讨论的对象是some房子，注意原文有on average，所以不能削弱。
