标题: 技术背景转金融真的很难吗?
我有九年的国外大药物公司R&D的经念, 由于家庭关系,搬回亚洲. 现在想通过MBA 转金融方面的工作, 但看了这里的贴子, 发现纯技术背景转金融很难. 尽管已经录取了香港的大学, 现在犹豫是否应该去念?毕竟读完了, 找不到工作, 不如不读. 是否有人知道象我这种BACKGROUND OR SIMILAR SITUATION, 有没有SUCCESSFUL PREVIOUSE CASE? 我已经过了三十五了，没有那么多时间可以浪费了. Thanks for any suggestion and advice. It is really hard for me to make the decision.

如果是2年技术背景的话相对机会会多很多。

9年药物技术。

金融。

我以前一般都帮人找达成希望的方法，

这次我真是想不出来。

不过你愿意香港毕业后去某国有银行某街道支行呆着的话，这种金融业方向应该大有机会，同时最好长相看起来比较年轻的那种。

Thanks for yor suggestion. It is really a dillemma for me right now. I quit the job in U.S. just for the family. Based on the same reason, my job hunting market will be limited to Hongkong area. In U.S., it is common for people in my age and years' experience to pursue a MBA degree. Also, I know quite a few change their career either to consulting firm or to financial company. But seems Asia is young people's world, not for people over 35. That is my feeling after couple months' staying. Maybe go back to U.S. is my best choice.

TO楼主，自信点。你的英语水平是你很大的一个优势。在学校focus on相关金融课程，未必毕业后去不了IB的。不过我还是认为你去咨询公司优势更大。我今年也申请了香港某校，不过面试了几个月到现在也没有得到回复，理论上说你放弃了offer等于让我增加一点点拿到offer的希望，虽然那几乎不可能，哈哈。退一步说，就算毕业以后没有在HK找到满意的工作，那时候再回U.S.不迟。

我觉得lz也是有机会实现你的想法的,事在人为，既然他们录取了你至少说明他们认为你是有潜力的。如果你现在不转型，可能只能一辈子做研发了。

Thanks for the encouragement. When I applied the school, I was thinking of going to consulting firm which focus on pharmaceutical industry. However, after the conversation in the interview, I feel frustrate that it is almost impossible in Hongkong.If I am 5 years younger, I would not hesitate going for MBA. People at my age maybe always think too much and afraid to take any risky steps. TO: 弯月亮, I think they probably put you on the waiting list. No rejection means there is hope still. You may call the office to check.

做了这么久专业，为什么还要转行业啊？

收入方面应该不会提升很多了吧？

商业银行，只能去做sales

投行，可能性小于5%

pe，如果一些pe正好做这方面单子，有可能

基金公司研究员，略有希望，不大

不管选哪个，级别不会高

得不偿失

Many thanks to everyone here. I agree that after MBA, my salary could be much lower than what I had before while the working stress could be higher. But for the family good, I have to give up something. Yep, I would like to squeeze into some consulting firm, however, most of those firms may be in mainland China, not in Hongkong. If that is the case, the family will seperate again. Anyway, thanks for everything. I have to make the decision: Go back to U.S. for the same function job; go for MBA, changing career; Or go to mainland China finding a job in Pharmaceutical or nutraceutical Industry(since I know the process and the whole documentation about FDA filing,familar with the U.S. nutraceutical market and industry, it should not be too difficult to find a job in China.)Well, sorry to bother everyone here too much. Just want to get your opion to help me make the decision.Thanks.

Also becuase of family considerations I am in HK now (the difference is that I was from mainland before moving here), so I think I can understand your feelings.

I think it won't be too difficult for you to find a job in HK or Shenzhen( these two cities are close enough to be viewed as one city).

And as for MBA, I think you can still focus on the former background if (I mean "if") you fail in applying for financial positions. But in doing so you are giving yourself an another chance. I myself had been admitted by a HK univ this year and I am also in my thirties.

I think you can find some good VC/PE jobs and leverage your expertise in phama industry. The key is to master the basics of finance during your MBA and have a good internship in the summer. Family is your personal reason, but will not be considered by your employer...
