答案是E。为什么不用A呢？

小弟认为后用的过去时，用“former”好些。如果用E，我觉得后面用现在完成时好点，表示过去发生并有可能持续下去。

you can't be a "former chair" for consecutive 18 years. It's a logic flaw.
