从在UK工作MBA毕业的学长那里刚刚得到消息：英国取消HSMP对MBA学生的优待，从今年3月份起，MBA毕业不再享受自动获得HSMP的政策。（就是说要申请还是得用其他方面积分到75以上。）据学长说，他们07年毕业的MBA学生是最后一批享受这个政策的人。
我很错愕。因为这个策略才用了4, 5年吧，变化真快！不知道UK是不是又在紧缩移民政策了。对抱有HSMP目标而申请MBA的人来说，实在是个坏消息。奇怪的是，我刚去他们官网查过，没有发布这方面的消息。。。不过官网有时候是不可信的。因为for this case我更相信我的学长。

If you would like to live and work in the United Kingdom, now is the best time to apply for a working visa, as from the 1st of March 2008, the current Highly Skilled Migrant Programme (HSMP) and UK Work Permit scheme will be replaced by a brand new points-based system.
Introduced
in 2002, the HSMP has been a very popular immigration scheme, as it
enabled non-European Union highly skilled migrants to work and live in
the United Kingdom, without having to rely on a prior job offer or work
permit. Some advantages that exist in this system won't exist in the
upcoming new points-based system, which could make it harder for
skilled migrants to qualify for a working visa.
The new United Kingdom points-based system will have five tiers.
It's been reported that each tier will have a number of sub-categories,
each with its own criteria on point scoring. For example, Tier 1's
sub-categories will include investors, to entrepreneurs and general highly skilled migrants.
Tier 1 will cover highly skilled migration, but, unlike the current HSMP, Tier 1 will involve some new requirements, such as English language ability.
Currently, the point system criteria of the HSMP are based on age,
qualifications, and past earnings. If you can score 75 points and show
acceptable English language proficiency, you can be granted an initial HSMP Visa for two years, which can be renewed later on.
Also, if you have a Masters in Business Administration (MBA), you
can be eligible for the MBA Provision, which automatically grants you
75 points if the school where you've earned your MBA from was on the
list of the top 50 business schools in the world at the time of your
graduation.
But with the new UK points-based system, this MBA Provision
advantage will fall away. Thus, if you would like to work and live in
the United Kingdom,
and have an MBA from an eligible university, applying for the HSMP visa
before the 1st of March could be in your best interest.
The reason why now is also a great time to apply, is because
according to the Office for National Statistics in the United Kingdom,
there have been 680,700 job vacancies for the three months to November
2007, the highest figure since comparable records began in 2001. It's
up by a whopping 14,500 over the previous quarter and up 81,100 over
the year.
A report entitled 'Migration and the UK economy', which was released
by Ernst & Young ITEM Club, looked at the economic impact of
migration during the last decade in Britain. Their study concluded that
the United Kingdom nation could suffer a decline in growth if the flow
of foreign labour is cut off.
There is thus a strong need for skilled migrants,
