标题: Choose CPA exam or CMA exam?

What's the difference between CPA and CMA...I plan to take CPA exam, but I find that many people here are discussing about CMA...any difference?...thanks.

I will try to help you explain the differences, but it's up to you to decide which one to pursue.

CPA:
I assume you're referring to AICPA (American Institute of Certified Public Accountant). CICPA is the accounting designation in PRC.

CMA:
Certified Management Accountant. As far as I know, there are at least two countries (Canada and US) offer CMA, I guess most people here are referring to the US CMA, which can be taken in China.

Exam Location:
CPA: USA only
CMA: Many parts of the world, including China

Career Orientation:
CPA: Public accounting firms (such as Big 4) and industry (such as accounting/finance depts of any major corporations, especially US listed companies)
CMA: Industry only, due to it's concentration on managerial accounting. Most influential in a manufacturing environment.

In summary, if you want to pursue a career as accounting professional, it's better to go for CPA because it enables you to develope your career in both public accounting as well as in the industry.

CMA是管理会计，做预算的，个人感觉——没劲。

CPA的求职范围比较广，审计、会计都可以做。

呵呵，这话听着感觉——有劲。

能有这样的见解，估计会计工作还没入门呢。工作做的怎么样不好评价，但找工作的能力应该不错。

CPA，呵呵，其实很显然，你要是在CPA firm 工作过，或者在企业做过财务方面层次比较高的活，就知道。为什么CPA呢，首先是个执业资格，就像驾照一样，是你从事这个工作负起这个责任必须的东西。CMA和CPA考试的内容可能偏向不一样，但这个紧紧限于考试。干过活的知道，实物当中其实CPA什么都涉及，从改制重组帮助企业设计股权结构，到财务报告审计，另外盈利预测，管理建议书，内控报告，各式各样的专向报告，财务咨询。
