(D) describe what might happen if Huns, Goths, and Visigoths were to invade（D）

(E) describe what happen if Huns, Goths, and Visigoths invade

我想问一下，D中不是有be to do的结构吗？这个怎么会对啊？所以我选了E...

D is correct, subjunctive...

if X were to..., Y might/could/should/etc...<---是用來說不可能在未來會發生的事.
如果E變成:
describe what will happen if Huns, Goths, and Visigoths invade
就有可能對.
可是humorist提示Garrison說的很有可能是笑話 - 不可能會發生.
