More than thirty years ago Dr. Barbara McClintock, the Nobel Prize winner, reported that genes can "jump," as pearls moving mysteriously from one necklace to another.

首先like和as一个作介词,一个作连词没有异议
印象中似乎 like A,B是GMAT惯常用法,而B,likeA似乎有头重脚轻之嫌。
所以本人倾向用as结构,根据og解释,as...do...的用法错误是因为所述之事并非属实,有默认客观规律之嫌。
不解的是该句中reported...can...,主句中用过去时态,而从句中则用了现在时态,印象中,这种用法只有在阐述客观规律才可以用。
而can “jump”似乎是比喻,不是事实,既然比较的前部分能用,为什么as后就不能用do?
如果不能用do,那么用as结构的话怎样才是正确的??
有人来解释一下吗?

我有不同的看法,as在引导短语的时候是“作为”的意思,和like意思不同
但是as引导从句,应该和like是同样的意思
这里的关键是as pearls do that move mysteriously from one necklace to others ,这里的do的用法怎么错误了?
like象,不是同一类,用于比喻; as 作为,是同一类,可用于类比as 表示比较的时候,一定要用句子,而非短语; like则加名词短语。
这里gene和pearl是好不相干的两种东东
这道题应该是做了个比喻,使用现在时也不无道理吧,毕竟不是过去发生过的,而是一般的状态
另外,from ... to others和from ... to some other one似乎也不妥
至于as...do为什么不行,并非属实,这样解释不知道是否合适?
like与as...do在做比较含义时:
like:可做类比、可做比喻
as...do:可做类比、不可做比喻
而本题是把genes比作pearls,显然用的是比喻。
