标题: [分享][面经]Drunk Interview

好好的元宵节，酒足饭饱之际，迷糊中接到Duke电面，一通神侃，问得问题都很套路：Education background, research idea, other school applied, career plan after PhD诸如此类。但一个很不起眼的小问题，问我申了别的学校没?有啥消息? 我竟然Yes，还一一列举，真是酒后吐真言，不吐都不行。对方竟然让我比较各个学校，说出自己择校标准。曾经精心准备过的，竟然一时忘了，结果回答得一塌糊涂，就说他家如何如何研究分支广泛等等。但被对方反驳说，其实Placement更应该考虑，然后对方竟开始详细列举今年Fuqua Phd毕业生的良好就业。我这边只好点头如捣蒜般拼命说Yes. Yes. ..Absolutely... I took it into consideration as well....

问教育背景时更神，对方居然搞不清我哪里毕业的，还问我成绩单寄了没，把我吓得阵阵冒冷汗。结果对方说要找找我的成绩单，过5分钟再打过来，如果10分钟我还没接到电话，就自己主动打过去。再次接到电话后又聊了点无聊话题，对方好像想结束了，抢白说四五天后给结果。我主动说我可以问问题吗，然后就开始问，但电话信号叫一个差，对方的回答出了Yes我能分辨出，其他都听得稀里糊涂。

天哪，后果很严重，都不敢多想了。给各位CDer的经验教训，申请期间一定要时刻保持清醒，面试问题都没有什么难度，但准备过的内容一定不要丢掉。不知道我的这点忠告算不算废话，估计没有哪个CDer糊涂到我今天这种境地的。

因为是很奇特的经历，不吐不快，趁着尚有醉意，特来发帖，清醒后偶肯定会羞愧地把嘴闭得严严的。

interview from Duke is such a big privilege that not everybody has the chance.

我觉得这个面试应该还算可以吧，不是太糟，lz不用郁闷啦

i got similar experience too
the professor asked me which other schools i've also applied to
and i told him everything (listed out as many as i could remember)
then the professor just hinted that school A will consider me
and asked me to e-mail him if i don't hear from school A (and B, C, D) in a month's time.

那对方问申没申别的学校，应该怎末说，难道说没申？

I suggest applicants answering that "I applied a few universities but my first choice is your unviersity because ......"

If you apply many, it implies you do not really want to join. Some people even like to say that they only apply one. Although the interviewer will be surprised but he or she cannot confirm the truth of the answer.

我不认为，面试的时候绝对不能提供虚假信息，这是最最最最忌讳的

而且美国那些学校的同一领域的professor之间有非常紧密的交流，通常会互通录取的信息

如果你是outstanding的话，教授对你绝对是会有印象的
