Having been forbidden by Church law to marry, it was not unusual for a priest during the Middle Ages to sire a family.

D. Although a priest was forbidden by Church law to marry, it was not unusual for him during the Middle Ages to sire a family.

E.Although they were forbidden by Church law to marry, it was not unusual for priests during the Middle Ages to sire families.

Answer: E

The original sentence commites an error of logical expression. ....The D choice changes the intended meaning of the original by implying that there was a single priest who sired several families.

而且E里面,我觉得they先行在although后面的句子里面,对应"it was....for priests...."

The D choice changes the intended meaning of the original by implying that there was a single priest who sired several families.

a priest 。。。

原句中 it was not unusual for a priest during the Middle Ages to sire a family.

D. Although a priest was forbidden by Church law to marry,这里我觉得是特指。
