选D没有问题

如果B中改成and providing能不能选呢？

现在分词作结果状语，逻辑主语是什么，sitting below the surface of the ocean and providing ideal conditions for the mollusks’

growth解释前面整句我觉得没问题，但如果逻辑主语是firm就说不通了

从那里的讨论看来，后面的伴随状语是可以就近修饰的。但是当伴随状语在句首时，这个状语的动作者必定是主句的主语，是否在句尾就不一样了呢？希望有更多讨论。

我觉得B选项改过之后也不如D选项好，因为容易造成困惑，逻辑主语既可以是firm,也可以是farm。

that修饰更精确。

个人见解不能选，因为根据句意后面是修饰farm，而“Sitting”表伴随修饰前面整个句子所以错。
