C中的believed to为何就不会引起歧义了呢？不会被误认为是修饰elephants吗？如何区分类似情况呢？

它是就近修饰souds,不会歧义啊.再说其他选项都有问题.

还有一个问题：

“that they may use...”修饰“sounds”那不就是“that”引导非限定性定语从句了吗？

我也有问题，C选项的believed...和后面的that从句不是都是修饰sounds的吗？中间不需要连接词，用逗号就可以的吗？？

B,C中的believed to 都没错,就近修饰low-frequency sounds. B 错在this 指代错误, this 不能指代 low-frequency sounds,

however, C can.

关于这道题还有没有其他的解释阿？


看了上面的解释还是不明白：


如果that they may use是修饰sounds,为什么不就近修饰呢？是因为believed....作为插入语，才用that,不用which的吗？

顶，我在OG8也发现疑是THAT修饰非限制性定语从句的。


Lacking information about energy use, people tend to overestimate the amount of energy used by  visible equipment, such as lights, that must be turned on and off and underestimate that  used by unobtrusive equipment, such as water heaters.

NN们的讨论，有结论说是在插入语的情况下，THAT在有逗号情况下也可以正常引导定语从句，我也不是太清楚这算是限制性还是非限制性定语从句。

这里 that ... 不是修饰非限制性定语从句，而是被 believed ... 插入成分与被修饰成分sounds分开了。

believed ... 单从纯语法上讲，有修饰歧义，elephants 和 sounds 都可以被 believed，

但从表达意义上讲，只有 sounds 可以被 believed to originated from foreheads.

由于that是限定性从句，因此，前面的","使“believed to originate from a small area on their foreheads”的成分变成了插入语，从而消除了楼主关于“C中的believed to为何就不会引起歧义了呢？不会被误认为是修饰elephants吗？如何区分类似情况呢？”的问题。


本题问题最小的是Ｃ（除了they的指代有三种可能外，其它选项的问题都解决了），而且they在有疑惑情况下，也首选指代主句主语。

还是想不通阿，要是believed……是修饰sound，那originate就该是被动阿，声音应该是有大象产生的阿

originate from作“发源、开始”解，应该是主动语态，如All theories originate from practice and in turn serve practice.

如果照“产生”解，这时候用被动语态be originated by。注意介词，这道题是from。

再问，那么believed to be originated from。。。这一串为什么不能理解成分词省略结构呢？如果是分词省略结构的话，那么直接修饰ELEPHANT就不对了！

还是放在后面就不能做分词省略结构？？？

请NN赐教？

首先A 中，

 被动有误。

而A ， C  的区别 还有 believed to originate from a small area on their foreheads,, 的位置。

那如何判断A, C 中的believed... 有没有歧义呢 ？

所以，还是不懂。。。  请求解答。。。

修饰的对象一定是sounds，elephants怎么能从foreheads发源出来呢？

我错选了A……
